This jinbaori is inspired by extant garments held in museum collections, and is made of wool decorated with wool applique and lined in silk. The edges are enclosed in strips of handmade bias trim, and the turned-back lapels at front are closed with a buttoned strap made of wool and trimmed in printed faux leather. This project broadened my experience with creating Japanese garb, bringing together new materials with old techniques, learned in a different (Western) context.
