This mantle is inspired by extant garments held in the collection of the Germanisches National Museum, as well as period German woodcuts. It is made of cotton velveteen, decorated with velveteen applique and satin couched cord, and lined in linen. This project expanded my understanding of period patterning and fabric economy, and further refined my applique work.
